Man Arrested at Brad Pitt's LA Home

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man who identified himself as a freelance reporter was arrested outside the Los Angeles home of Brad Pitt, police said.

A housekeeper called police around noon Wednesday after she saw a car blocking the actor's driveway, Officer Karen Smith said.

The man got out of the car and asked which house belonged to Pitt, the housekeeper told officers.

The 25-year-old reporter was arrested for investigation of trespassing and taken into custody on a "private person's arrest," Smith said. It will be up to the housekeeper to decide whether to press charges.

Neither Pitt nor his partner, Angelina Jolie, were home at the time.

Will Brad Pitt Become a Green Movie Star Mayor?

Move over John Edwards: You might be losing your title of Politician with the Best Hair. There's a rumor spreading that Brad Pitt will be running for office in New Orleans.
The actor sometimes lives in the city with his partner Angelina Jolie, and has been working there with his Make It Right (MIR) campaign. MIR is an organization building affordable, sustainable homes in New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward, the area hit the hardest by Hurricane Katrina. The goal is to build 150 homes that use solar power, natural light, energy efficiency, and other green design features for displaced residents, and to show that the system can be replicated.
Now there's some buzz that Pitt is interested in really taking charge of The Big Easy, and we're pretty sure we haven't seen a politician like him. An elected official who not only believes that global warming is a real threat but who has initiated a sustainable building project? A politician who has openly talked about our dependence on foreign oil? A politician who showed up to his movie premiere in a BMW Hydrogen 7, and who models organic cotton t-shirts that benefit his charitable organization?

Ok some things might have to change with the new job. But seriously, The Big Easy could only benefit from having a leader who genuinely cares about the environment and citizens' health. The rest of the country would be impacted by learning about the importance of sustainable design—and by visiting the city's official website to see pics of Mayor Pitt.

Denis Leary: Rebuilding New Orlean's Firehouses

New Orleans has yet to rebuild a single firehouse in the two years+ since Katrina--but the city is receiving help from actor Denis Leary and his charitable foundation. So far, they've rebuilt five, with two more slated to be finished in the coming months. Leary says it's a sad commentary on society when actors and musicians become the key players in helping a city rebound. Brad Pitt, Harry Connick Jr. and U2's The Edge are among the stars helping out.

Jerry Cremins, a member of the New York District Council of Carpenters has teamed with Leary's foundation to restore 22 of the 33 firehouses in new Orleans. Cremins agreed to sign on after viewing the devastation on a recent trip to pick up his son from a local college. The situation, has ,of course, proved equally frustrating to firefighters. Their fire gear is light sensitive, and is supposed to be stored in a dark locker to ensure maintaing as much fire resistance as possible. In a trailer that is next to impossible. Brad's Today Show Interview

Here's is an interview with Brad on Today Show, December 21, 2007. He talks with Ann Curry about his New Orlean's project.

Pitt & Pax’s New Year’s Eve Ride

These pictures are from New Year's Eve but I thought I'd post them because they show Brad's softer side, as a Dad. He squeezed in some father-son time with Pax, 4, by driving through New Orleans, Louisiana together on New Year’s Eve. Brad and Pax drove around in a “E-Z GO ST 4X4 Honda Powered Utility Cart” on site of Brad’s Make It Right project today. The father-son pair was also seen going up a construction life and stopping off at a PICKnG convenient store for snacks.

Make It Right

Today I thought I would post some information on Brad's Make it Right project.

According to their website, this is the project's vision:

In December 2006, Brad Pitt convened a group of experts in New Orleans to brainstorm about building green affordable housing on a large scale to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Having spent time with community leaders and displaced residents determined to return home, Pitt realized that an opportunity existed to build houses that were not only stronger and healthier, but that had less impact on the environment.

Previously, Pitt sponsored an architecture competition organized by Global Green with the goal of generating ideas about how to rebuild sustainably. Several of those designs are currently under construction in the Lower 9th Ward and the project inspired him to expand his efforts.
After discussing the hurdles associated with rebuilding in a devastated area, the group determined that a large-scale redevelopment project focused on green affordable housing and incorporating innovative design was indeed possible.

The group settled on the goal of constructing 150 homes (one of the larger rebuilding projects in the city), with an emphasis on developing an affordable system that could be replicated.
To demonstrate replicability, Pitt determined to locate the project in the Lower 9th Ward, one of the most devastated areas of New Orleans, proving that safe homes could and should be rebuilt. Pitt hopes that this project would be a catalyst for recovery and redevelopment throughout the Lower 9th Ward and across the city of New Orleans.

Having listened to one former resident's plea to help "make this right," Pitt was inspired to name the project "Make It Right" (MIR).

Brad's Humanitarian Efforts

This blog is dedicated to Brad Pitt and his humanitarian efforts. He is currently involved in a project called "Make it Right". The project hopes to resurrect New Orleans from the rubble.
Pitt plans to rebuild 150 homes in the Lower 9th Ward, where less than 10 percent of the population has returned since the hurricane.

According to the Post Tribune, he's committing $5 million to the rebuilding and placed his lucrative film career on hold and moved to New Orleans to lead his recovery project.
Besides the financial backing, Pitt has talked with residents as they described their needs. Pitt's houses are eye-catching and unique and will make a substantial contribution to the community. More important, they're affordable and environmentally friendly. Brad Pitt is using his wealth and celebrity status to shine a spotlight where it's needed. Perhaps the federal government should take notes.

It is a noble effort and hopefully Brad and his project will be able to help many of the people in New Orleans who lost their homes and have not been able to rebuild.
